The Community Development project in El Salvador provided sources of better nutrition and increased crop production for a rural mountain community. Through training in better farming practices and the use of natural fertilizers and pesticides, the farmers implemented sustainable agricultural methods. These improve the quality of the soil and of the crops for healthier consumption. They also learned about crop rotation and introduction of new crops for balanced diets. Planting of fruit trees for small family orchards for consumption of their fruit and for sale or trade of the fruit to neighboring communities increased the effectiveness of the project.

The goal and accomplishment of this project impact is better health and food stability for this year and the future. The community benefits through having a common purpose, learning together and working to sustain their new practices.  Because this is a mountain community, the better practices and trees will help to control erosion during the winter rain season which has a detrimental effect on housing conditions.

The over-all impact can be summarized as food security, environmental protection, skill training, income creation and community development.
